New page layout

the new page layout is (i think) finished!

since i finished the previous layout systems, i started working on a new page style that's more structured? maybe.. i liked the aesthetic of the previous one, but i still felt the urge to do something different from whatever i did first. maybe at the start of my website creating process, i wanted to have something completely done at the end of it and i didn't completely knew where to go/what to do next.

and notably, neocities is an incredible place to showcase your creativity - be it doing a website to expose your other creations (like mine) or the website itself being a work of art. . each one is more impressive than the others and spending some time looking at other people's projects has been quite delightful. so, after looking at some incredible sites here, i just felt like i had to do something better? more impressive? but, after doing all of this, i don't really think i did.

i feel this love for this layout (and the previous one) because these were (complete) creations of mine are giving me the space for showcasing my art projects. and their aesthetics do satisfy me. besides the "pressure" that came from comparing my website to the others available out there, one of my friends just told me that they didn't like the layout. and that somehow made me think that i had spent my time doing something awful. obviously they didn't mean to make me sad or anything (and i much prefer this honesty than anything else) but still, i felt pressured to make something more aesthetically pleasing? maybe..

while doing the new layout, i just ""realized"" that i liked the old one. honestly, this pressure i felt to make something better didn't really come from me, from a place of creativity or anything like that. i just wanted to maybe please more people?

so. now the new layout is just more organized than the previous one, not necessarily more 'beautiful' than the last one. it's more flexible and less 'bodged' together (i think).

to keep my old work in memory, this is a screenshot i took of the Paintings page, now transformed into the Gallery:

i stupidly didn't save the old website in a single zip file. i took this screenshot imediatly after realizing this..

let this be a lesson to me in respecting more the things i make and take my time doing!
